Volunteer

Here at Trudy’s Kid’s Cafe, we are all about community! Have you ever heard the phrase “it takes a village”? If you spend any time with the Trudy’s Kids Cafe family, you’ll see that statement rings true.

The Cafe runs almost entirely on volunteer efforts and donations. Without help from people like you, we would not be able to serve our community effectively. We have partnered with countless programs, such as the Boys and Girls Club, Beta Club, Greek life, and many more. We pride ourselves on our ability to partner with our surrounding communities and teach young people the value of hard work and helping others.

Thanks for volunteering your time. See you soon!

Cooking

Work with our chefs to cook simple meals or put together lunch bags. This option is great for college or adult organizations, as it requires a little more attention to detail. That being said, the meals are not difficult to prepare - all come with detailed instructions, and you will be working closely with a few of our staff members. Prior cooking or restaurant experience is not required but can be helpful.

Meal Drop-Off

Drop off meal kits to families in the Obion County area. Since its inception, Trudy’s Kids Cafe has provided meal kit delivery. Meal drop-off can make a huge difference for some children who may have no other way to access the Cafe. Volunteers will be asked to drive (in a Trudy’s Kids Cafe car) the meals to different families in the Obion County area. This option is great for individuals who want to donate their time without a group or organization to volunteer with.

Activity Managing

Supervise and participate in after-school activities with our students. Our kids have access to a variety of games and activities in our lounge area. We try to maintain at least one adult supervisor, or game leader, per activity in the Cafe. Children can choose from a variety of different games, such as sports, cards, video games, board games, puzzles, art, and more. This option is great for high school and college students who want to get involved and have fun while making a meaningful difference in their community.

Location Volunteering

Volunteer at different locations and spend time outside during the summer. During certain parts of the year, Trudy’s Kids Cafe opens up multiple mobile locations in Obion for students across the county to access. Volunteers for these locations are needed to distribute food and water, set up and take down the site tent, and supervise any kids spending time at the location. This option is great for adult or college organizations, since the volunteers will be responsible for monitoring many children at one time.

Trudy’s Kids Cafe aims to be a shining example of the power of community and collaboration. Our commitment to serving the community wouldn't be possible without the unwavering support of volunteers and donors like you. Whether you choose to volunteer your time in the kitchen, engage in after-school activities, help with our mobile locations, or contribute to our meal kit delivery service, your efforts make a substantial difference in the lives of the children we serve. We're deeply grateful for the dedication of our volunteers and the organizations that have joined us in this mission.
